Candidate Philip Allsopp for Willington Parish Councillor
Prospective candidate number 5, Phill Allsopp:
I'm Phill Allsopp , I've been married to my wife Glenda for 42 years and we have a son Darran and daughter Kerry, who live in the village. We've lived happily in the village for 19 years. We enjoy living here with all it has to offer.
My working career started at British Rail, now Bombardier, as an apprentice Vehicle Builder. After 39 years I left the company as a Director and took a different career path with Cameron, a global Oil and Gas company. I was a Plant Manager, managing their Leeds facility for around 5 years. I retired in June of this year. I'm really enjoying my additional leisure time. My hobbies include watching football, I'm a season ticket holder at Derby County, walking and playing golf. I also enjoy photography, in particular wildlife, mainly birds. I often spend time at the local nature reserve and canal banks.
I have previously served on the Parish Council. I was Parish Council Chairman at the time when we successfully reversed the proposal to build 1,750 houses on the old Willington power station. Unfortunately due to work commitments I had to stand down. Due to my previous time serving the community I have gained experience and knowledge in working with the District and County Councils and other services, which will hopefully make a contribution to the Community if elected. I'm a people person and willing to listen to issues that affect local residents and work towards getting them resolved.
