With the exception of October all meetings commence at 7.30pm. There is a £3 charge and this includes light refreshments.
12th October- AGM at 19.15, followed by "TRACING THE FAMILY TREE" by HELEN BETTERIDGE (Derbyshire Family History Library) Come and find out the pit-falls, short-cuts and surprises that your research may turn up.
9th November – "HISTORY OF DERBYSHIRE SURNAMES" with JANE JAMES. Are you a true son or daughter of the county or could you have an exotic past?
14th December- "WHERE IN WILLINGTON?" a photo quiz, plus examples of family history research by members. See how the village has changed over a century at this social evening.
11th January – "THE ENGLISH HIGHWAYMAN" by LEE TIMMINS. Were they romantic gentlemen of the road or murderous thugs and villains?
8th February – "HISTORY OF MELBOURNE" by PHILIP HEATH. No one knows more about Melbourne and its environs
8th March - "BESS OF HARDWICK" by JOHN HAWKINS. How to become the most powerful woman in England after Good Queen Bess- marry FOUR rich and influential husbands!
12th April - "KLONDIKE GOLD RUSH" by COLIN BAGSHAW. When gold fever strikes, men make fortunes or die in misery as towns rise up and vanish.
10th May - "A GUIDED TOUR OF REPTON" by ANDY AUSTIN, hopefully including a look at Church and School.
